In the 16th century, the Florentine ambassador Francesco Florio called the region “Jardin de la France“. Thanks to the presence of important abbeys, powerful lords and kings, it has been cultivated with style. Medieval gardens, inspired by the Italian Renaissance, “à la Française“, “English” or contemporary, all gardeners’ schools are represented.

You can browse the castles of the Loire, BloisAmboiseVillandry, and their French-style flowerbeds. As well as the more contemporary Festival of the Château de Chaumont sur Loire.
